First Impressions: Colourpop Lippie Stix

After months of hearing rave reviews about Colourpop’s Lippie Stix from YouTubers Kathleen Lights and Jaclyn Hill, I decided to take the plunge. This, however, was not a big plunge to make because of their $5 price tags but buying makeup online from a brand you’ve never tried before is always a little risky. I ordered two shades of Lippie Stix and an eye shadow, and also received a free gift with purchase of another Lippie stick.

Silk – Definitely the darkest color I now own. This is a beautiful dark berry/plum color that glides on like a dream and dries mostly matte but has more of a satin finish than the other two. After wearing this for four hours the color was still perfectly in place and my lips felt even more moisturized than they did before  I applied it.

Clique – A bright but not overly bright or neon red-orange (kind of a combination of the two pictures they have on the website). I’ve been looking for a color like this that stays on my lips for so long! The finish is matte but it doesn’t dry as matte as a MAC one would, which means I may have to reapply at some point but I actually might like this consistency more than the MAC ones! NOTE – The color appears way more red/pink in my pictures, but is very much not pink.

Poppin’ – I got this color for free as my gift with purchase and am still unsure as to how I feel about it. It is definitely more cool toned than the colors I usually go for but when I applied it on my lips, it seemed to warm up a little bit. This was really surprising as the color is super opaque and the driest and most matte of the finishes by far. I’ll have to wear it out and see how it fares!

I am sooo happy with the colors I ordered. They were true to the picture and work really well with my skin tone so I could not have been more impressed with this. I’ll have to keep wearing them in order to get a true feel for each one but right now I can safely say that I will be purchasing a bunch more 🙂
