If you’re like me, ever since the leaves started to turn, you can’t stop hearing about the new Fall collection of candles that came out at Bath and Body Works. I could probably name four or five different scents off the top of my head just because I had heard so many Youtubers and bloggers raving about these candles and how amazing they smelled. So obviously I had to see (or rather smell) what the hype was about.
The first thing I noticed when I walked into the shop was the overwhelming scent of “sweet” emanating from the pyramids of seasonal candles. I was not surprised by this, however, because a lot of the candles on display were scents like Pumpkin Pie, Cream Cheese Frosting, and other typical dessert flavors that I tend to steer clear from. It’s not that I don’t like these treats, I simply get headaches if I smell them for too long. And these candles were intense so I definitely wanted to avoid them. The scents that I was looking for were the Leaves, Sweater Weather, Mahogany Teakwood, Autumn, and possibly even Marshmallow Fireside because they sounded like they smelled naturey and not sweet.
I was wrong.
Every single candle that I smelled was seeping with the scent of sugar, apples, pumpkins, cinnamon or just plain old sweet. I could not find a single candle that didn’t smell of something that could’ve just come out of my oven. Even gosh darn Leaves smelled like a cupcake! Every. Single. Thing. Sweet. Well, either sweet or cologne (I’m looking at you Flannel). Now if you’re someone who loves sickeningly sweet scents, and I say sickeningly because they literally make me feel sick after a while, then you would love these! If you want your friends to think you spent the whole day baking when you actually sat around watching Netflix all day, you would love these! If you’re craving a sweet but don’t want to worry about the extra calories that come from eating one and just need a sniff, you would love these! In fact, I’m probably the only person in the world who doesn’t love these! But I can’t change the way I smell and considering how well their candles are selling, I’d say they won’t be changing them anytime soon. So for now at least, I’m going to take my candle allowance elsewhere.
But honestly, the candles were too sweet for me, but if that’s what you’re looking for than you would definitely like them. I’ll simply continue my search for the perfect Fall candle elsewhere and when I find it, and I will find it, you guys will be the first to know. Have a great weekend and talk to you on Monday!
