Weekly Tid Bits

Hello everyone!

As you may or may not know, I have been vacationing on the beautiful island of Antigua this past week and would like to share some of my pictures with you from my amazing trip. I can’t say enough good things about this place and the resort we stayed at (Curtain Bluff) and am so grateful I got the chance to come back here for a second year in a row. Have a great weekend!

My Perfume Collection

It may surprise people to know that I am not a huge perfume person since I absolutely LOVE scented candles. The reason for this is that I have a very scentsitive (chuckle chuckle) nose and I am extremely prone to headaches so if I wear a strong scent for too long, I start to feel sick. That being said, I still own a small collection of perfumes that are quite clean, light and floral and good for people who are more headache-prone like myself. So if you are someone who likes really intense and sensual scents that just beg to be noticed, you came to the wrong post. But for those of you with a more sensitive shnoss, these may be right up your ally.

perfume

Princess by Vera Wang – Probably the most traditionally sweet of my scents, I purchased this bad boy back in High School when it was all the rage and I personally think it still has some rage.

Heaven by Gap – I’m pretty sure the Gap scents have been discontinued at this point but this is the scent that I find myself wearing the most. It’s a scent that I remember from my childhood from my scented princess dolls (Jasmine to be exact) and when I looked up reviews of this scent, most people could smell Jasmine so I guess that makes sense. It’s the epitome of a clean and white floral scent and is perfect for an everyday scent.

Euphoria by Calvin Klein – Definitely the most sultry of my scents, this one is a lot darker and sexier if you know what I mean. It’s still very much a floral scent but it’s much stronger and richer than my others. I tend to save this one for dates and nights out.

Daisy Dream by Marc Jacobs – The newest addition to my collection, Daisy Dream is a spin off of the cult favorite Daisy by Marc Jacobs but has a slightly more clean and fresh scent. I feel like this perfume smells the way that wine tastes, slightly sweet, crisp and refreshing.

Summer Bucket List

With the official start of summer just a few weeks away, I made a list of things I want to accomplish by the end of my first real summer in the city. And while some of the items on my list require me to go back to my parent’s home in the suburbs, the majority of them are activities that I wasn’t able to do last summer when I was living with them. Right now my list only has ten items but I’m more than open to suggestions so please leave a comment with any of your summer goals and I might just have to add them to my list too!

1. Bring my dog, Lila, swimming in the ocean. She’s never been and I’m pretty sure her reaction to waves (most likely excitement quickly followed by fear) will be priceless.

2. Throw a summer themed party. After our Ugly Sweater Party this last December was a huge hit, my roommate and I definitely want to up to ante with another shindig this season.

3. Run 10+ miles. It’s been over a year since I ran my farthest distance (9 miles) and now that the snow is gone and I’m finally feeling the motivation to run long distance again, I think it’s time to set a new personal record.

4. Attend a roof deck anything. Spending the night on a roof deck under the stars with good friends is one of the best ways I can think to spend a summer night. It’s that simple.

5. Learn how to properly grill something. Although my cooking skills have definitely improved this year, my grilling skills are definitely not up to par so I’m definitely going to need some help from my dad for this one. Who needs a guy to grill for you when you can grill for yourself!

6. Come up with a signature summer cocktail. I don’t think I will ever get tired of my usual drink of choice (Tito’s and Tonic) but I think summer is the perfect time to experiment with fruits and juices you’ve never tried before to create a new tasty treat that you can show off to your friends.

7. Go to a farmers market. Yeah yeah farm to table is all the rage and farmer’s markets are the it thing right now  (even though anyone who’s a regular there will be hard pressed to admit it) but in actuality I go for the breads and pies. Is that bad?

8. Make ice cream. This goal has stemmed from a combination of two things. 1- I like trying new baking/cooking techniques. And 2- There is a serious shortage of Strawberry-Banana ice cream in the world and it’s a problem. So I’m gonna fix it.

9. Attend my 150th Pure Barre class. In conjunction with goal 3, these goals will help me work off goals 7 and 8. Lift, tone, and burn baby!

10. Attend a wine tasting. Do I really need to explain this one?

Put a Ring on It

No I’m not engaged, or even remotely close for that matter. But what I am is slightly obsessed for rings. I have worn the same heart shaped ring on my finger for almost six years now and while I do have a few others, I would really like to expand my collection. The problem I have, however, is that I can only find ones I like online. Now obviously finding these rings online I will have to take a slight chance and hope that they fit one of my fingers, but I’m willing to take that chance. I hope you find some of these as cute as I do!

Beach Worthy Drinks

Happy Friday everyone! And for those of you in the states, happy almost Memorial Day weekend!

For this holiday weekend along with the rest of the week I’ll be vacationing on the island of Antigua and I cannot wait to just sit by the beach with a book in one hand and a tropical drink in the other. And while not everyone will be celebrating the holiday on tropical island, I thought I would share with you some of my favorite tropical drinks that I think taste amazing and would be perfect to serve at any Summer themed get-together from now till the end of August. Enjoy!
